Waukee Lions Club aligns many of our service projects around Lions International's eight global causes: Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Disaster Relief, Environment, Humanitarian, Hunger, Vision and Youth.
Childhood Cancer
Lions provide support for the needs of children and families affected by childhood cancer through impactful service activities.
Diabetes
We serve to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed. We help raise money for Camp Hertko Hollow Diabetes Camp.
Disaster Relief
We take steps to meet immediate needs and provide long-term support for communities devastated by natural disasters.
Environment
We serve to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities. We help maintain Alice Nizzi Park.
Humanitarian
We identify the world's most crucial needs and provide humanitarian aid where it's needed most.
Hunger
We serve to ensure all community members have access to nutritious foods, through conducting food drives and volunteering at a local food pantry.
Vision/Hearing
We serve to prevent avoidable blindness by providing KidSight Screenings to local children and by collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids.
Youth
We support young people so they can make positive choices, lead healthy and productive lives, and become the next generation of service leaders.
